Welcome to Jamboulay Carnival Arts Promotion
Preserving Heritage. Empowering Community. Inspiring the Future.
Established in the heart of Hackney in 1996, Jamboulay Carnival Arts Promotion is more than just a costume band; we are a dedicated collective of artists, volunteers, and heritage-keepers. As a voluntary non-profit organization, we are driven by a singular mission: to promote, preserve, and celebrate the historical and traditional roots of Carnival Arts.
Our Legacy on the Road
Since our inception, Jamboulay has been a vibrant fixture of the UK’s most iconic parades. From the world-renowned Notting Hill Carnival and the local energy of the Hackney Carnival to the unique Isle of Wight Illuminating Night Carnivals, our costumes and performances bring history to life.
As a proud, active member of the Local Arts Network, the Carnival Cluster, and the Carnival Arts & Mas Federation (CAMF), we sit at the heart of London’s cultural development.
Beyond the Costume: Education & Arts Development
We believe that Carnival is a powerful tool for community development and skill-sharing. Through the Carnival Development Arts Network (CAD-net), we deliver:
-
Masterclasses: Professional-led sessions in traditional and contemporary costume design.
-
Exhibitions: Showcasing the intricate craftsmanship and storytelling behind our recent works.
-
Creative Workshops: Providing hands-on training in sewing, costume construction, and the fine arts of carnival.
Empowering the Next Generation
Jamboulay is committed to bridging the gap between creativity and employment. Our vocational programmes offer accredited pathways for young people, including:
-
Apprenticeship Training: Real-world experience in Arts Administration and Marketing.
-
Professional Certification: Facilitating the Level 2 Certificate in Event Stewarding to provide transferable skills in event management and public safety.
